The 17,000-Year Arc

My work is not a reaction to market trends. It is the continuation of a much longer arc — a biological, civilizational, and architectural lineage stretching back over 17,000 years of European ancestry, confirmed through modern genomic analysis via 23andMe.

I first began this journey publicly in October 2016, when I wrote “Analyze the Past to Prepare for Success in the Future” — a piece rooted in a simple conviction I hold more deeply today than ever:

My paternal haplogroup is R1b1b2 — the most common haplogroup in western Europe, traced to origins 17,000 years ago, with branches clustered across Irish, British, French, and Basque populations. What that haplogroup confirmed — through verified DNA shared ancestry — is a direct bloodline connection to some of the most consequential builders in Western civilization:

My maternal haplogroup is H1 — originated approximately 13,000 years ago, widespread across western Europe, believed to have been common in Doggerland, the ancient land now submerged beneath the North Sea.

My ancestry also includes Sir James Watt — the Scottish inventor whose improvements to steam engine technology powered the first Industrial Revolution — and Maureen Kathleen Stewart Forrester — one of Canada’s greatest operatic contraltos.

Like all humans outside of Africa — between 1% and 4% of my genome carries verified Neanderthal DNA, confirmed through 23andMe genomic sequencing.
