When my book HOW TO WIN NEW BUSINESS: PROVEN TIPS, TRENDS & TACTICS was published a year ago, I couldn’t have imagined the amazing sequence of events or the impact it would have on my life. For anyone considering writing a book, I want to share some hard truths and life experiences, I learned from the process.
Over the years I have partnered with Fortune 500 Brands, CEO’s or global marketers on five continents in the rapidly-changing media, digital, FMCG, retail, automotive, telecommunications, hospitality, luxury, communications, financial services & entertainment industries.
Including: Coca Cola, IBM, IMG, P&G, Microsoft, Nike, E*Trade, Nestle, Air France, AT&T, VISA, Unilever, EA.com, Ferrari, Acer Computers, BMW, ABC, BP Oil, The Walt Disney Co, Nike, Weight Watchers, Shutterfly.com, TiVo, DirecTV, EarthLink, Nissan, Pfizer, Gardens.com, Palm, XM Radio, eLuxury.com and more.
I decided it was finally about time to share my expertise gained over three decades and having pioneered Internet Marketing globally in 1995, I felt I had to share the foundational building blocks and digital and marketing strategies I had accumulated in my book. These strategies had contributed to my growth and offered opportunities, both in and outside of the workplace, to scale globally rapidly. They also enabled me to deliver, immense value, increase EBITDA instantly, disrupt competitors, accelerate learning, leverage and co-brand with amazing synergist companies and brands.
BUT, little did I expect or plan, as I finished my book, that my badly injured hip would need replacement surgery. Yes, four decades of football, basketball, tennis, and sport had finally caught up with me! This book was also written to become a ‘legacy’ for my children, and to document my career from: San Francisco to New York City, London, Hong Kong, Sydney Australia, Taiwan, Mexico, New Zealand, Canada and even Japan.
I was most proud of helping to Pioneer Internet Marketing and helping my clients launch on the NASDAQ in 1996. Then being recruited by The Omnicom Group, to launch their first Digital and Interactive Agency in San Francisco in 1999. Yes, four years before Facebook the social networking service launched as TheFacebook on February 4, 2004.
Importantly, this book allowed me to share global knowledge, trends, tips and tactics which generated billions of new business over five continents for my clients.
However, as my book was being printed and launched, I was having my hip replacement surgery which was then followed with months of rehab. I had a ‘great awakening’ during this recovery period. I began thinking about my background, the position I was in, the situation in which I found myself and I asked myself – what would I tell my clients to do, if they were hit by a truck, hit an economic crash, had a plunging stock market or their major competitors were executing better, faster or smarter.
SO WHAT WOULD I TELL THEM TO DO? I would counsel them to:
Exploit speed, gain momentum, exploit opportunities, innovate, out-maneuver, adopt and add more value!
Speed of execution and risk taking are unavoidable ingredients of sustained and rapid growth.
And, so not being able to promote book as quickly or easily as I would have liked on LinkedIn/Facebook or Instagram, or speak, coach, set up Joint Venture, run Masterminds, develop online programs while in hospital or during the months of painful rehab that followed my operation.
Bottom-line, I knew if I wanted to rapidly scale, not be overwhelmed once I got out of hospital and rehab, I was going to have to change my timeline BUT NOT MY GOALS! I also knew that sustained and rapid growth were going to be critical conditions of my business success after I recovered.
MY SUCCESS PLAN
So, rather than mope, feel upset, I decided to focus on accelerating my own global network, leverage my experience with Fortune 500 brands, startups, network of VC’s/High Net worth folks. This enabled me to target smaller, more defined groups with greater precision, i.e. iconic brands and Entrepreneurial Owners of businesses with revenues of between $5M – $20M Businesses.
I discovered that I could make the biggest impact on this often neglected group because larger Management Consulting Groups like: Deloitte, PwC, McKinsey, Accenture, Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), KPMG and IBM Global Business Service. They generally target big corporations with Boards and long-established professional relationships and are not active in the smaller or more nimble areas that focus on such things as: big data, analytics, IT, innovation, Luxury, retail, health care, or ‘Owner operated businesses’.

Bottom-line, I knew lying in that hospital bed, if I didn’t make quick decisions and see them through to execution; I would never beat the competition and the other healthy authors and advertising leaders.
I realized that with my surgery and hospital stay that I was going to have to ‘pivot’ quickly, so I would not be passed on the left and right and my business might NOT have the impact on the world I had hoped for at the start.
MY GOAL BECAME – TO RAPIDLY ACCELERATE MY ‘NEW’ CLIENTS REVENUES IN 2020
The ‘pivot’ I made in 2019 while fully recovering enabled me to focus on my ‘core strengths’ e.g. TARGETING SPECIFIC NICHE MARKETS and ALWAYS HAVING A COMPELLING OFFER- the things I have done consistently well over the last three decades such as ‘blitz-scaling’, i.e. plus in 2020, I’ve pioneered and excelled at ‘collapsing’ the time to drive accelerated profit/revenues, building scalable systems, precision targeting the most valuable clients and innovation.
In fact, we guarantee success can achieve a 10X – 20X increase in monthly revenue during our initial 12 -Week Accelerator Program. (one financial quarter)
