EVERY ADVERTISING AGENCY AND CEO NEEDS TO USE TWITTER IN 2018

As I have often stated, Twitter’s greatest strength over every other social networks today is its ability to transmit the latest breaking news, wins, gains, mergers and takeovers instantly and in real-time.

Supplying real time information, results, images and video worldwide is critical in 2018. Even Cable TV and Mainstream media just can’t respond as fast as people on the ground are using Twitter! This is exactly why you must incorporate Twitter with all your other marketing and advertising efforts today!

Importantly, Twitter is great at helping you stand out from the crowd!

The truth is that email inboxes are always cluttered, and always full of people asking for your time, comments and assistance. Open rates and click through rates are declining dramatically every year too. Even in-person events are becoming saturated, but Twitter provides a faster way to stand out.

Importantly, if you are already spending your days contacting prospects, building email campaigns, mailing lists or setting next quarter’s budget (or maybe all of those at once) you need to read on.

Between LinkedIn, your corporate site, and your resume, people already know who you are as a professional. So why should you have a Twitter account too?

In this post, I am going to focus on why I have gained over one million Twitter followers over the past decade. Although, I don’t have 44.4 million followers like our President Donald Trump

BUT, as far as making in impact and being an influencer and thought leader in the Advertising and Marketing Industry, within the US and worldwide – all my followers have helped me to be ranked in the Top 0.27% of people using Twitter globally.

In fact, I have more followers than the Top 10 Advertising Agencies in Manhattan, even as I am writing this post. But, I still don’t understand why companies like: Ogilvy & Mather, Saatchi & Saatchi, Grey Global, BBDO, McCann, Droga5, McGarry Bowen, etc. – haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet! They should all be more focused on today’s digital and mobile world because today’s Clients today are demanding accountability, ROI and results!

Like Donald Trump, I believe Twitter is the microphone we’ve previously had to pay for. Now, it’s free. Our daily tweets are read by millions of people each and every day. Any idea how much that would have cost 20 years ago? That’s why Twitter is a game changer.

BUT, importantly Twitter has also provided me lots of additional benefits too. It is an amazing tool to connect and network with other leading executives in the Advertising and Marketing Industry – both in the US and key markets overseas!

It has allowed me to be added to over 4,330 Lists of other Twitter Followers globally. Making me one of the most listed people in the world with a ‘List Score’ of 8,660 as ranked by Ana Tweets: http://anatweet.com/popularity  (The Top Advertising & Marketing Executive in the world too!)

  • It has strengthened relations with many other thought-leaders, CEO’s and Advertising Industry leaders who also use Twitter! I’ve had many ‘thought leaders’ ReTweet and share my content, which has brought incredible engagement and awareness globally too. Yes, even from our President, Donald Trump too!
  • It allows me to reach, communicate and impact people/business associates with my iPhone or MacBook.
  • It allows me to ReTweet great Industry content, research and announcements. PLUS share valuable/relevant information. E.g. Adding Value
  • Twitter is great for notifying people about events and conference too. I always recommend using common hashtag for an event or conference because you can connect prospects and potential partners by posting to the #hashtag.
  • I have been using Twitter for approximately 3,500 days now and it certainly generates awareness, cut-through and thought leadership online and within the Advertising Industry.
  • Twitter allows me to find and interact directly with potential new business sources and keeps me abreast of breaking stories. It also helps me compile news instantly.
  • Twitter allows me to get in touch with decision makers instantly and usually get a response quickly too. This is key in new business and growing and winning New Business!
  • Twitter has allowed me to spread my ideas, articles and concepts.

Why Twitter?

Twitter is my medium of choice as most marketers and advertising folks live and work in an accelerated, always on, fast paced environment and MUST learn and share critical information instantly. In fact, Twitter even lends itself better to ‘breaking news’ than even television.

Since posts on Twitter are public, the reach of the conversation is much greater. Because users can see what others are talking about, the ability to jump into a conversation that is relevant and interesting is not only acceptable, it’s expected. That feature is still distinctive to Twitter.

Twitter partners with and has acquired numerous innovative tech companies like Periscope (e.g. a live-streaming app)which only enhances the Twitter platform. This enables Twitter to deliver breaking news instantly worldwide, faster and more consistently than Cable TV or Mainstream Media networks like ABC, MSNBC, CNN, CBS, etc.

I personally love Periscope (Twitter launched in March 2015) because when you open Periscope, you can see live broadcasts real-time globally or watch recently recorded ones.

Periscope allows both public and private broadcasts. You’ll be able to blast out a link to your Twitter stream and have it show up on the Periscope home screen, or alternatively privately invite a few friends to watch.

Advertising Agencies need to consider integrating this immediately. (I am appalled to the number even in Manhattan/Madison Avenue today that don’t!)

The main advantage of Twitter for television and live news or events, is that it allows television producers and advertisers/marketers to get instantaneous feedback about their programming.

Additionally, from an advertising and marketing perspective – Twitter is perfect for reaching out at exactly the times when I am most engaged and active with my favorite brands, executives, clients or communities. It will also enable Advertising Agencies to:

  1. Promote Ticket sales, Merchandise, Services and Events.
  2. Drive more Conversion of Sales and New business opportunities
  3. Grow Sponsorship, Advertising, and Research.
  4. Engage more with fans, clients and create more BUZZ, build more insights via data and extend reach and influence.

I also firmly believe that all Advertising Agencies, senior marketing executives (including every CEO) need to embrace both Twitter and Technology today.

TWITTER WILL HELP YOU BUILD YOUR STORY, IMPROVE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCES AND LOYALTY

In 2018 Ad Agencies and businesses must continue to have a ‘laser focus’ on the importance of every client/customer and consistently grow and build their tribes.

I even met with a potential partner in person but forgot to exchange business cards. A few days later she found me on Twitter and that led to a mutually beneficial opportunity for both of us. WIN-WIN

Don’t forget to ALWAYS share your Agency’s pictures, stories, videos and photos. This adds real value to your brand or business which will deliver the growth you deserve.

Your clients and customers have come to demand real-time results and highlights all around the world. Twitter is a super way to tell stories, excel at content marketing and make your fans raving, loyal customers!

Importantly, you need to discover, attract, and engage your target audience on Twitter and make 2018 count on the New Business and Growth front! Even hit me on DM me : Geoff De Weaver
